BDSM: What does it mean?

Understanding what BDSM is may change your perspective in the best way.

Hold onto your handcuffs and strap yourselves in, because today we’re diving into the captivating world of BDSM – and no, it’s not just an acronym for “Bizarre, Daring, Sensual Mayhem.” Well, not entirely, at least. Wink

BDSM is an umbrella term and an acronym for 4 different types of play, although many people assume it only includes pain and whips. It stands for Bondage, Discipline, Sadism, and Masochism.

Bondage

This is when different things are utilized to restrict the movement of one partner. These tools include ropes, ties, handcuffs, blindfolds, chains, ball gags, and more. While in bondage, the other partner can perform various activities on them within the realm of what was previously agreed upon.

Discipline

This type of play is where the dominant sets rules and gives demands, then the submissive follows suit. If the submissive doesn’t obey, a punishment is given. The punishment can include withholding pleasure, physical pain, or additional rules. Although the dominant is in control, they are responsible for ensuring the safety of their submissive.

Sadism

This involves receiving pleasure from causing pain to another person. An example of this would be getting aroused from spanking your partner.

Masochism

This involves receiving pleasure from having pain inflicted on you by another person. An example of this would be getting aroused when your partner chokes you during sex.
