How Left & Right Brain Affect Your Relationships

Discover which pair is the most compatible and the differences between the two.

Hey there, lovebirds! Let’s dive deep into the science of romance and unlock the mysteries of how our left and right brains can influence our relationships. Whether you’re a hopeless romantic searching for answers or a skeptic looking to debunk the madness, I’ve got the inside scoop to satisfy your curiosity.

In this brain-tastic blog, we’re exploring how our analytical left brain and our creative right brain can come together (or clash) in the realm of love and romance. Get ready for a rollercoaster ride of emotions, as we uncover the ways our brain functions can impact communication, understanding, and overall relationship dynamics.

It all started with the renowned neurologist Roger Sperry. He discovered that the brain divides activity into the left or right brain. While we all utilize both sides, it’s helpful to understand which side you and your partner lean towards.

First, I’ll go over the differences between the two. Then, I’ll discuss common complaints about a left and right-brain partner to help you identify. Lastly, I’ll dive into which pair is the most compatible.

Differences in Personality

  • Analytical
  • Logical thought
  • Cautious

Common Complaints of Each Type

Left-Brain Partner

  • Seems emotionally unavailable
  • Always preoccupied
  • Constantly focused on the past and future, not the present
  • Is too inhibited and self-conscious
  • Finds it hard to let go and have fun

Right-Brain Partner

  • Gets too emotional
  • Wants too much from me
  • Can’t focus on one topic without switching
  • Doesn’t think logically
  • Is too go-with-the-flow

Which Pair is the Most Compatible?

There is no right or wrong answer. Two right-brain dominant people would communicate well, give each other space, and understand each other’s emotions. They could also get on each other’s nerves by consistently making decisions with their feelings and without logic.

Two left-brain dominant people will argue less since they are not emotionally focused. On the other hand, the relationship could be strained by crises where they both have to deal with strong emotions they are not used to feeling.

Typically, a right-brain and left-brain person will end up together because opposites attract, and the differences can be exciting at first. As the relationship continues, those differences can turn into frustration and resentment.

The best answer is despite which dominant brain you and your partner are, you will need to find a way to communicate effectively to avoid misinterpretations.
